Daily preparation is one of the most important aspects to trading. Knowing what stocks might be in play for the day, and having a "rough" plan on how you will trade those stocks, is the key to successful trading.
In fact, the time spent planning is probably the most beneficial part of the day. If you go into the trading day with all your potential trades planned out in advance, when the time is right, you can execute the trade within seconds – which could literally make the difference between a highly profitable trade, and no trade at all (or worse, a losing trade).
Preparation can take different forms but generally consist of screening stocks for different technical chart patterns, creating "Watch lists, studying company fundamentals and SEC filings, reading stock specific and general market related news, and reading message boards and stock forums.
